Job summary

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital invites applications for a Housekeeper position. This PRN (as-needed) role focuses on cleaning patient rooms and common areas, providing a clean, safe environment for patients and staff. You'll engage with patients directly as part of daily housekeeping tasks.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and offers an opportunity to contribute to a compassionate care team in a hospital setting. Prior experience is not required, and training will be provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs routine janitorial and cleaning activities in patient, public and common areas using prescribed cleaning processes.
• Performs discharge cleaning of inpatient rooms and prepares room for next admission.
• Performs room setup and changes as needed, including changing linens, cleaning, mopping and furnishing.
• Keeps equipment clean and functional according to procedure.
• Notifies supervisor of any equipment or facilities needing maintenance.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.

Role Purpose

The Housekeeper is an environmental services worker who is responsible for daily housekeeping services as assigned, using procedures as outlined by the hospital or service organization.

Responsibilities
