Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee operations of the Housekeeping Department and ensure a clean, safe environment for patients and residents. The role offers leadership opportunities within the Barnes-Jewish continuum. The position requires supervision, scheduling, and adherence to infection control and regulatory guidelines, with a schedule of 7:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m. and weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 2-5 years in housekeeping or related field.
• Supervisor Experience: < 2 years preferred.
• Education: Associate's Degree preferred.
• Experience: 5-10 years in housekeeping or related field.
• Supervisor Experience: 2-5 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages staff including hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates performance and develops staff.
• May participate in departmental staffing, budgets and goals; ensures adherence to budget and changes in the business.
• Schedules work assignments and ensures the schedule is posted.
• Responds to pager requests and prioritizes tasks.
• Conducts new hire orientation, training and in-services as needed.
• Performs regular inspections to ensure compliance and infection control.

Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is part of the Barnes-Jewish continuum of top ranked, compassionate care. It is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, located at 401 Corporate Park Drive in Clayton, Missouri. Organized as a hospital-based facility, Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is under the direction of Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical staff with full support of laboratory and rehabilitation departments. Services range from minimal assistance to subacute post-hospital recovery. Our patients range from the young to the elderly, as well as post-trauma rehabilitation patients and those in need of hospice or respite care. The Housekeeping Department at BJEC is responsible for delivering a clean and safe environment of care for our patients and residents.

Role Purpose

Supervision of operations and activities of the Housekeeping Department.

Responsibilities

• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
• May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
• Schedules work assignments and ensures the schedule is adjusted and posted.
• Responds to and prioritizes pager requests.
• Conducts new hire department orientation, training and in-services as needed.
• Performs regular inspections to ensure staff are following established procedures in order to meet compliance and regulatory guidelines and to provide infection control.
