Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center, named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across three nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a full-time Housekeeper/Porter on the 7A-3:30P shift, including every other weekend.

Job Duties Include:

• Ensuring the facility is kept clean by dusting, mopping, sweeping, damp/wet mopping, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming, trash removal, and bio-hazard waste disposal.
• Keeping assigned areas clean and attractive.
• Promoting sanitary conditions to prevent the spread of infection.
• Ensuring all equipment is in working order.
• Performing other duties as needed, as staff are cross-trained in all areas of Environmental Services.

Minimum Qualifications

1 year of prior housekeeping experience required.

Additional Considerations

Experience in a long-term care facility or hospital preferred.
Experience stripping and waxing floors, extracting and bonnet cleaning of carpets.
