Job Purpose: This position’s primary purpose is to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. The staff is accountable for completing assigned duties with minimal supervision. They will interact positively with clients, shelter staff, and respond effectively to requests. The staff must maintain high standards of porter and housekeeping services at shelter facilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate safe work habits and observe all safety practices, including using personal protective equipment.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in common areas and resident rooms.
• Empty trash cans and dispose of waste properly.
• Perform housekeeping duties to meet customer and contract requirements.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Perform minor repairs such as fixing leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs, and unclogging drains.
• Pick up litter and debris around the exterior of the facility.
• Perform laundry services to ensure sanitation and cleanliness.
• Maintain records such as inventory, checklists, and inspection reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Manager.
• Provide exceptional customer service, prioritizing children, families, veterans, and clients to support our mission to empower individuals and communities.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 4 months to 1 year in custodial, housekeeping, or porter roles.
• Attendance: Maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a clear record.
• Vehicle: Must have daily access to a vehicle.
• Other: Willing to travel as needed, aged 21 or older, pass background checks, and able to work independently with confidentiality.
