Job summary

Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is seeking a full-time Environmental Services staff member for evening shifts at 1153 Centre Street. You will perform cleaning, discharge cleaning, bed making, curtain hanging, and sanitation tasks across patient environments.

The role requires English proficiency, physical stamina to lift 25–50 pounds, and knowledge of chemical cleaning agents. Training will cover safety and hospital procedures, with weekend/holiday rotation included.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Must understand and converse in English at a level that allows safe, efficient performance of the job.
  • Be able to lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Requires physical demands, ability to stand for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Competent in using proper chemicals for proper tasks.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate new procedures related to the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the 8-step cleaning procedures, daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, bed making, wall spots, toilet cleaning, high and low dusting, and O.R. terminal cleaning.
  • Complete work from previous shift if needed, report all incomplete assignments and maintenance issues.
  • Clean up all organic body waste, such as blood and body fluids, feces, sputum, etc., as instructed by the supervisor or team leader.
  • Hang cubical curtains, shower curtains, and window curtains.
  • On discharge cleaning, disinfect and sanitize I.V. poles, pumps, and other patient equipment.
  • Perform all Environmental Services-related tasks and demonstrate the ability to follow department guidelines.
  • Perform basic and heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  • Clean patient equipment as requested by supervisor including beds and all room furnishings.
  • Assist in manpower support for office and/or related moves, special conference room set-ups, and any other occasions as required.
  • Ability to perform cleaning of emergency spills when observed and/or upon request.

Job Summary

Schedule: Full Time 40 hours, evenings. 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, Monday - Friday, weekend & holiday rotation.

Location & Shift

Remote Type: Onsite.

Work Location: 1153 Centre Street.

Work Shift: Evening (United States of America).
