Job summary

Porter-Starke Services is seeking a full-time housekeeper at our Valparaiso location to support a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients and staff. Hours are Monday through Friday, 1pm-9:30pm, with occasional travel to other sites.

This non-profit health center prioritizes professional housekeeping in a healthcare setting. The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in a nursing home or hospital setting is preferred.
• Ability to follow state and government cleaning regulations.

Responsibilities

• Clean lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, and client rooms.
• Sweep, mop, wax floors, dust furniture, and clean windows.
• Replenish supplies and maintain sanitary environments.
• Complete reports as requested and adhere to safety policies.

Join our TEAM!

We are in need of a FULL TIME (40 hours/week) housekeeper!

Hours are Monday thru Friday from 1pm-9:30pm, no weekends at our Valparaiso location.

May have to travel to other locations on occassion.

Competencies:

The staff member must demonstrate knowledge of:

• General understanding of the techniques in housekeeping as outlined in state and government agency regulations.
• Chemicals and cleansers used when performing the duties of this position.
• Health care housekeeping procedures and techniques.

Essential Functions:

Essential functions include the following.

• Utilizes proper procedures for safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Cleans and sanitizes lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices and client rooms.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts furniture.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Basic computer usage.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies or blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Completes reports as requested
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with a nursing home or hospital are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, handle, push, pull, lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
