Job summary

Porter-Starke Services, Inc. seeks a full-time housekeeper for our Valparaiso location. Hours are Monday through Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with no weekend work; occasional travel to other sites may be required.

The position involves cleaning and sanitizing patient areas and common spaces in a healthcare setting, following safety and infection-control procedures. Prior healthcare housekeeping experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; nursing home or hospital experience preferred.
• Healthcare housekeeping procedures and safety standards.
• Familiarity with chemicals and cleaners used in patient areas.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize lobbies, lounges, restrooms, offices and client rooms.
• Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors.
• Dust furniture and wipe surfaces.
• Empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal area.
• Replenish bathroom supplies and restock as needed.
• Record basic reports as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are in need of a FULL TIME (40 hours/week) housekeeper!

Hours are Monday thru Friday from 1pm-9:30pm, no weekends at our Valparaiso location.

May have to travel to other locations on occassion. Porter-Starke Services is a non-profit community health center with offices in Northwest Indiana, including Valparaiso, Portage, Knox, Gary, and Hebron. Our full continuum of care serves adults, families, adolescents, and children with mental health or substance abuse issues. Essential Functions

• Utilizes proper procedures for safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Cleans and sanitizes lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices and client rooms.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts furniture.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Basic computer usage.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies or blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Completes reports as requested
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with a nursing home or hospital are preferred.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, handle, push, pull, lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
