Job summary

Porter-Starke Services is seeking a part-time Housekeeping staff member for our Gary location, working 20 hours per week in a friendly, clean environment.

The role requires basic understanding of hospital-grade housekeeping procedures, safety, infection control, and basic computer use. Experience in healthcare settings is preferred; high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with a nursing home or hospital are preferred.
• General understanding of housekeeping techniques per state/regulatory guidelines.
• Health care housekeeping procedures and safety protocols are required.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, offices and client rooms.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts furniture and cleans rugs, carpets, and drapes.
• Washes walls, ceilings, windows, and sills; replaces bathroom supplies.
• Completes reports as requested; performs other duties as assigned.

Join our Housekeeping team in a friendly and clean environment! We are looking for a PART-TIME staff member to work 20 hours per week in our Gary location.

Porter-Starke Services is a non-profit community health centre with offices in Northwest Indiana, including Valparaiso, Portage, Knox, Gary, and Hebron. Our full continuum of care serves adults, families, adolescents, and children with mental health or substance abuse issues. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

• General understanding of the techniques in housekeeping as outlined in state and government agency regulations.
• Chemicals and cleansers used when performing the duties of this position.
• Health care housekeeping procedures and techniques.
• Utilizes proper procedures for safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Cleans and sanitizes lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, offices and client rooms.
• Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts furniture.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Replenishes bathroom supplies.
• Basic computer usage.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies or blinds.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Completes reports as requested
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. and experience with a nursing home or hospital are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, stand, walk, reach, kneel, handle, push, pull, lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
