Job summary

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is hiring a Housekeeper to provide daily housekeeping services for patient rooms and public areas. The role requires interaction with patients and supports a clean, safe hospital environment.

The position offers full-time hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with rotating holidays and every-other-weekend work. High school diploma or GED is preferred, and prior hospital housekeeping experience is not required.

Qualifications

• The role involves daily housekeeping in patient areas as assigned.
• Discharge cleaning in inpatient rooms and preparing rooms for next admission.
• Room setup including changing linens, cleaning, mopping and furnishing as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment per procedure.
• Notify supervisor of any equipment or building maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine janitorial and cleaning activities in patient, public and common areas using prescribed cleaning processes.
• Performs discharge cleaning in inpatient rooms and prepares room for next admission.
• Performs room setup and changes as needed, including changing linens, cleaning, mopping and furnishing.
• Keeps equipment clean and functional according to procedure.
• Notifies supervisor or manager of any equipment, furniture, or building fixtures that are in need of maintenance.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. The Housekeeper is an environmental services worker who is responsible for daily housekeeping services as assigned, using procedures as outlined by the hospital or service organization.
