Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Housekeeping Manager to lead the environmental services team, shaping operations, and implementing innovative solutions to maintain a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.

You will oversee staffing, training, budgeting, and compliance while driving continuous improvement across the department in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of housekeeping management experience.
• Supervisory experience required (2–5 years).
• Preferred: Associate's degree or higher; 5–10 years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages hiring, training, assigns work, staff evaluation, and professional development plans.
• Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets.
• Creates effective work plans and identifies resources, processes and space for the unit.
• Identifies and recommends optimal staffing levels.
• Ensures staff are trained on and adhere to compliance policies and procedures.
• Handles hazardous and/or infectious waste properly and practices infection control.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is part of the Barnes-Jewish continuum of top ranked, compassionate care. It is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility, located at 401 Corporate Park Drive in Clayton, Missouri. Organized as a hospital-based facility, Barnes-Jewish Extended Care is under the direction of Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical staff with full support of laboratory and rehabilitation departments. Services range from minimal assistance to subacute post-hospital recovery. Our patients range from the young to the elderly, as well as post-trauma rehabilitation patients and those in need of hospice or respite care. The Housekeeping Department at BJEC is responsible for delivering a clean and safe environment of care for our patients and residents.

Role Purpose

Development and management of overall operations and activities of the Housekeeping Department.

Responsibilities

• Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
• Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
• Creates effective work plans, that include, identifying the correct resources, processes and space needed by the work unit.
• Identifies and recommends optimal staffing levels.
• Ensures work unit is trained and evaluated on knowledge and adherence to compliance policies and procedures.
• Handles hazardous and or infectious waste properly and practices infection control.
