Job summary

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to support patient rooms and hospital spaces with thorough cleaning and infection prevention practices. You’ll provide a reassuring presence to patients while maintaining a sterile, welcoming environment across patient and public areas.

This full-time position offers a 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM shift, with rotating holidays and every-other-weekend work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years experience preferred.
• No experience required is listed as minimum in some sections.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning in patient, public and common areas using prescribed cleaning processes.
• Discharge cleaning in inpatient rooms and prepare rooms for next admission.
• Room setup and changes, including linens, cleaning, mopping and furnishing.
• Keeps equipment clean and functional and reports issues to supervisor.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. Role Purpose

The Housekeeper is an environmental services worker who is responsible for daily housekeeping services as assigned, using procedures as outlined by the hospital or service organization.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine janitorial and cleaning activities in patient, public and common areas using prescribed, established cleaning process.
• Performs discharge cleaning process in inpatient rooms and prepares room for next admission.
• Performs room set up and changes as needed, including changing linens, cleaning, mopping and furnishing.
• Keeps equipment clean and functional according to procedure.
• Notifies supervisor or manager of any equipment, furniture, or building fixtures that are in need of maintenance.
