Job summary

Southern Yacht Club is seeking a dedicated Room Attendant to join our housekeeping team in New Orleans. You will clean and maintain member spaces, restock supplies and assist with laundry while following safety guidelines.

The role includes lifting up to 30 pounds, operating within a hospitality environment, and a flexible schedule from Wednesday to Sunday with meals provided. Prior housekeeping experience is desirable, and the Executive Housekeeper will assign additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and preserving various surfaces.
• Ability to follow chemical use instructions and safety rules.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Stock the housekeeping cart and supply areas.
• Strip and remake beds with fresh linens.
• Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays.
• Wipe window sills, walls and light switches.
• Vacuum rugs and hard floors.
• Dust furniture and fixtures.
• Check lamps and drapes for issues.
• Wipe mirrors and windows.
• Check HVAC operation.
• Restock stationary and supplies.
• Clean and sanitize toilets and fixtures.
• Wipe and clean tiles, tubs, showers.
• Wipe shower curtains and sinks.
• Clean walls, baseboards and floors.
• Restock towels, soaps and amenities.
• Wash, dry and fold laundry.
• Stock storage rooms.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Executive Housekeeper.

• Stocks Room Attendant’s cart and hand caddy.
• Strips and remakes beds with fresh linen.
• Empties wastebaskets and ashtrays.
• Wipes all window sills, walls and light switches.
• Vacuums rugs and floors.
• Dusts all furniture and fixtures.
• Checks lamps for burned-out light bulbs.
• Checks drapes for missing hooks.
• Wipes mirrors and windows.
• Checks heating and air conditioning unit for proper operation.
• Restocks all stationary.
• Cleans and sanitizes toilets.
• Washes tiles, tub, shower walls and fixtures.
• Wipes shower curtain.
• Cleans sink and fixtures.
• Cleans walls, baseboards and floor.
• Restocks towels, wash cloths, soap, glasses and other supplies and amenities.
• Washes, dries and folds laundry.
• Stocks storage rooms.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Executive Housekeeper.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform strenuous work lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping and climbing.
• Use ladders when required.
