Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to followinstructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or anequivalent combination of training and experience. Specialcertification may be required for some of these positions.

Preferred are a High School Diploma or GED and 3+ years ofexperience within the field of janitorial/custodial work or otherrelated manual labor fields. Supervisory experience would beconsidered a plus. Ability to assist with providing direction toother staff members. Ability to write legibly and deal effectivelywith public sector. Applicant should be physically able to performall cleaning operations that require continuous walking, reaching,and bending. Ability to practice safe handling of cleaningchemicals, cleaning equipment, storage and use of materials. Also,experience with floor care maintenance such as carpet shampooingmachine, floor scrubber, buffers, waxing, stripping, etc.

Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The position works in the Student Center to maintain upkeep of thefacility. This position provides routine cleaning and maintenanceof facility.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Student Center serves as the principal site for studentprogramming and offers office accommodations for studentleadership, the University Event Center, Aggie One-Card, AggieSit-in and a convenience store. In addition, it offers an array ofservices, conveniences and amenities for students, faculty, staff,alumni and guests.
Work Hours
M-F 10pm to 6:30am, subject to change as business needsdictate
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid workarrangement, consistent with university and statepolicies.
On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have acritical job requirement that requires dedicated office spaceon-site)
Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies
Required Competency: Knowledge - Technical
- Performs routine or repetitious tasks with care and attentionwith attention to detail
- Presents full and accurate information in reports
- Inspects and cleans within the building daily
- Cleansand replaces light fixtures
- Scrubs floors with a floor machine
- Spot check and/orthroughout facility shampoos carpet
- Strips, waxes and buffs floors
- Performs basic cleaningsuch as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting,vacuuming, etc., to keep working areas in a clean and orderlycondition throughout the facility
- Fills dispensers, such as tissue and soap, with the properproduct and amount
- Empties all trash receptaclesthroughout the facility and surrounding areas of the building intowaste collection bags
- Dusts and damp wipes all surface areas, tables, chairs, sofas,etc. should be with cleaning solutions
- Cleans, a minimumof once a day with glass cleaners, all glass in the
- Student Center within reaching distance
- Dusts and dampmops all window seals daily
- Scrubs, sanitizes and deodorizes all restrooms
- Disinfects toilet bowls and sinks and damp wipe all surface areasand re-supply when needed
- Inspects bathrooms a minimum of threetimes during the shift
- Clean and re-supply whenneeded
- Sweeps and mops restrooms and wipe down walls andstalls
- Scrubs and cleans trash cans

- Recognizes and follows dispenser directions toproperly mix cleaning chemicals
- Polices public areas for cleanliness
- Janitor closetmust stay clean and organized at all times
