Location: Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina

The Environmental Services (EVS) team at Duke University Hospital supports hospital-wide housekeeping and plays a critical role in ensuring we provide compassionate care. Currently, there are opportunities for Housekeeper Specialist, Biomedical Waste Handlers, and Floor Finishers. Shifts vary (first, second, third), primarily on an every-other-weekend basis. General Summary

Performs routine manual housekeeping work cleaning areas within a DUHS entity.

Work Performed

• Empty trash and clean floors, stairways, halls, hardware, furniture, mirrors, fixtures, vents, radiators, cabinets, and equipment.
• Thoroughly clean patient rooms and offices, including floors, furniture, bathroom fixtures, and walls.
• Clean drinking fountains, ice machines, and sand urns.
• Report repairs needed, such as broken windows, leaky faucets, or damaged furniture.
• Follow all safety protocols, including universal precautions and PPE usage.
• May perform specialized cleaning tasks in surgical areas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic housekeeping knowledge, high cleanliness standards, ability to follow instructions, and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

High school education or equivalent. No experience required; relevant education or experience is acceptable. Ability to perform physical tasks like mopping and vacuuming.
