We are a behavioral healthcare company with our corporate office located in Alpharetta, GA operating acute psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers and outpatient counseling centers. We currently operate ten facilities across the U.S. and are expanding in 2021 and beyond. We currently have an opening for a House Supervisor for our behavioral health hospital in Garland, TX. This facility will focus on providing behavioral health services to the population of North Texas.

The House Supervisor is responsible for the clinical practice of nursing which includes assisting the CNO in directing all services provided by the Nursing Services Department including evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/CNA/MHT staff required training. As a member of our department head team this position ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the facility’s goals and objectives, and actively participates in a leadership role by consulting with facility management in designing and providing total patient care and services and provides an adequate staffing pattern to meet patient needs, based on patient census and as determined by the patient acuity system.

Standards of Performance
  • Ensure that all staff members deliver care in accordance with the Standards of Care and Practice during assigned shift.
  • Ensure hospital policies and procedures are being followed and act as a resource to the staff.
  • Responsibilities for compliance with the Joint Commission, CMS, state and regulatory standards and patient rights standards.
  • Ensure Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
  • Review occurrences during shift, conduct investigations, reassess any involved parties, follow up on documentation and notification of all necessary individuals, close out all occurrences, and develop corrective action plans as needed.
  • Participates in performance improvement team.
  • Monitor medical records for appropriate documentation of care and effectiveness and nursing functions as assigned.
  • Perform as an on-site administrator when on duty in the assigned position.
  • Act as a resource for patient advocacy and document accordingly.
  • Round on the unit majority of the time.
  • May serve in the admissions department:
    • Perform nurse to nurse, facility doc to doc, and obtain admission orders for intake as needed.
    • Document patient information and care as needed.
  • Assist with staff scheduling under the direction of CNO.
  • Complete 1:1 hours and documentation for CFO and Risk Manager.
  • Assist CNO with directing the provision of 24-hour nursing services for the facility and available to come in as necessary in case of staffing emergencies/shortage and/or any other reason within reasonable time frame.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that the staff schedule and configuration will meet the needs and demands of the patient population and census and adjust it accordingly.
  • Create a structure that best meets the needs of the organization, particularly department organization related to supervision and assignment of staff.
  • Routinely review job assignments and utilization of staff.
Personnel Management
  • Assist with recruitment and interviewing potential staff.
  • Assist in ensuring all staff is evaluated according to personnel policies.
  • Provide supervision and direction to all staff.
  • Continually evaluate the activities, morale and interpersonal relationships of the staff and promote methods to improve these areas.
  • Assist to ensure all new employees are oriented to the program.
  • Provide education, orientation and in-services when deficits in clinical knowledge are identified.
Intervention
  • Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions.
  • Oversee the appropriate use of interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Complete one hour face to face after seclusion or restraints and verify accurate documentation and follow up care.
Education, Training and Experience Required
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and/or bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Valid licensure and registration by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • At least three (3) years of clinical leadership experience in a behavioral-psychiatric hospital setting is required.
  • At least three (3) years of extensive clinical leadership management is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA requirements, and state, federal, regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Successful completion of training in Handle with Care or Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures preferred.
