Job summary

Washington County Mental Health Services in Vermont is seeking a Home Intervention Counselor to support young children through daily programming that fosters development, social and emotional growth, and resilience. You will plan age-appropriate activities, implement trauma-informed strategies, document progress with the supervising clinician, and participate in ongoing professional development.

A BA/BS is preferred, with at least two years of early childhood experience, and the ability to lift

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, psychology, or related field preferred.
  • Candidates actively pursuing a BA/BS may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of early childhood experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with children who have emotional or behavioral challenges preferred.
  • Ability to deliver services and complete treatment notes in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, on-site support to children through daily programming that promotes developmental, social, and emotional growth.
  • Assist in planning and carrying out age-appropriate activities aligned with individualized needs and group goals.
  • Support children in managing emotions and behaviors using developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed strategies.
  • Follow and implement standards established by NAEYC, Vermont Department of Licensing, and New Leaf Family Center.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment at all times.
  • Communicate observations and relevant information with the supervising clinician and program team.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to program goals.

Home Intervention CounselorWCMHS is seeking a Home Intervention Counselor, you'll help young children build the social, emotional, and developmental skills they need to succeed. Through structured daily routines, engaging activities, and individualized support, Home Intervention Counselors create a safe, consistent environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.Working alongside clinicians and fellow educators, Home Intervention Counselors are part of a collaborative team focused on meeting each child's unique needs. Child Care Interventionists move throughout classrooms and shared spaces to support children and daily routines. Staff work collaboratively, stepping in to provide coverage for one another as needed to ensure continuity of care and a safe, consistent environment for children. Flexibility, teamwork, and shared responsibility are essential components of this program.
