Job summary

Washington County Mental Health Services seeks a Residential Support Specialist to join a caring team in Central Vermont. You will work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or Autism, helping them live more independently in their own homes and supporting their goals.

Responsibilities include maintaining privacy and dignity, completing daily notes, and collaborating with staff across settings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ethical work practices.
  • Sense of humor; ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Experience with technology such as Microsoft applications.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities/Autism preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary support staff for an individual with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism.
  • Help the individual live as independently as possible.
  • Complete online notes and data collection related to daily experiences.
  • Collaborate with team members and other staff.
  • Protect privacy and maintain dignity of the individual.
  • Attend trainings and professional development as approved by supervisor.

Residential Support SpecialistWCMHS is seeking a Residential Support Specialist that will be part of a dynamic, caring team that promotes creativity, growth and having fun. We support people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to live their best life, to be part of the community, to explore their dreams and achieve their goals.If you have a positive mindset, are passionate about helping people achieve goals and maintain their independence, you are probably a great fit for our team!Summary of DutiesServe as primary support staff, working with an Individual with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and/or AutismSupport the individual to live as independently as possible within their own homeHave related experience providing direct support to individuals with a variety of support needs (behavioral, emotional, communication, self-care etc.)Complete all online notes and data collection related to the individual’s daily experiencesCollaborate and build positive relationships with team members, other support staff, and other appropriate individuals both inside and outside the agency as neededPreserve privacy, confidentiality and ensure dignity to assigned individual and all othersAttend training, in-services, and/or conferences to assure professional growth as approved by supervisorCompensation and BenefitsWCMHS provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and a generous retirement contribution match.
