Job summary

McGuire Builders, Inc. is hiring a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager for our Torrance office, focused on hotel and restaurant construction and renovation. You will support project managers across all phases, requiring strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Procore and MS Office skills are essential, with travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in hotel/restaurant construction or renovation.
• Project management certification preferred.
• Working knowledge of construction management methods and processes.
• Familiarity with codes and safety/regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications and details for subcontractors and trade personnel.
• Assist in implementing pre-construction plans and project execution strategies.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and construction professionals.
• Manage, create, distribute, and file project documentation (RFIs, submittals, correspondence).
• Establish and maintain electronic document control procedures.
• Develop and maintain logs as required by PM and company policies.
• Manage submittals and ensure material procurement aligns with schedules.
• Develop, distribute, and track RFIs and change orders.
• Update and maintain as-built construction documents.
• Obtain and maintain construction permits and manage related fees.
• Track testing, inspections and QC documentation.
• Assist with scheduling milestones and monitor progress.
• Support cost tracking, budgeting and basic estimating.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and outside contractors.
• Report progress, issues and risks to PM.
• Identify and mitigate potential project issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with project team and external partners.
• Support day-to-day project administration and coordination.
