Job summary

The Langham Chicago is seeking a courteous PBX Operator to answer internal and external calls, direct them through the hotel switchboard, and input wake-up messages. You will coordinate communications across departments and log requests for follow-up, ensuring Forbes and Langham service standards are met.

The role requires high school diploma (preferred) and prior hospitality or communications experience. Strong English, calm under pressure, and ability to use a moderately complex computer

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Hospitality or communications experience preferred.
• No special licenses required.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answer calls and greet callers with a positive, clear voice.
• Transcribe messages and verify accuracy.
• Be versed on Food & Beverage information, room amenities, and Langham standards.
• Receive wake-up call information and input into the system.
• Act as dispatcher for security, guest services, and operations.
• Log and follow up on internal/external requests.
• Answer emergency line and initiate appropriate procedures.
