Job summary

JB Duke Hotel on the Duke University campus is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineering Technician to keep our award-winning property in excellent condition. You’ll troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry issues, perform preventive maintenance, and assist with renovations to deliver guest experiences at the highest standard.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a maintenance engineer or repairman
• Experience in a high-volume hotel or resort preferred
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to read basic drawings and specifications
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and other high-volume days

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe environment by responding promptly to maintenance requests
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks
• Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and electrical systems
• Inspect and repair HVAC systems, toilets, sinks, pipelines, and fixtures
• Repair and maintain furniture and structures such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows
• Complete painting, wallpaper repair, and finishing work on furniture and structures
• Collaborate on renovation and improvement projects to keep the property in excellent condition
