Job summary

The Lodge at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC seeks a Maintenance Engineering Technician to maintain and repair a high-volume hospitality property. You’ll fix plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry issues while supporting improvement projects and maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a maintenance engineer or repairman in a hotel or resort.
• Engineering degree, certification, or training is a plus.
• Ability to use general repair tools, read drawings and specs, estimate materials.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to bend, stand, and walk frequently.
• Strong communication skills (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe environment by responding promptly to maintenance requests.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and electrical systems.
• Inspect and repair HVAC systems, toilets, sinks, pipelines and fixtures.
• Check electrical systems like refrigeration controls, TVs and lighting; perform minor repairs.
• Repair and maintain furniture and structures (cabinetry, doors, windows, etc.).
• Complete painting, wallpaper hanging and finishing of furniture/structures.
• Collaborate on renovation and improvement projects to keep the property in excellent condition.
• Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.
