Description:

We're looking for Maintenance Technicians with flexible availability to join our team at the Crowne Plaza Lansing, performing repairs and preventative maintenance of the building and grounds of the hotel. Pay starts at $18+/hr depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, locks, refrigeration, plumbing systems, and all building components, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  2. Complete work orders promptly, including replacing ceiling tiles, filters, light bulbs, patching vinyl, painting, and repairing guest rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
  3. Repair and program hotel electronic lock systems.
  4. Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained; report unsafe conditions or quality issues to the supervisor.
  5. Respond courteously and promptly to guest requests and complaints related to room maintenance.
  6. Inform the Chief Engineer of inventory needs and any special equipment or parts required.
  7. Monitor and perform scheduled work on hotel equipment (kitchen, laundry, floor equipment) and keep daily records; schedule service calls as needed.
  8. Monitor utility usage, take daily readings, and maintain records.
  9. Participate in emergency procedures such as fire brigade, first aid, and weather protocols.
  10. Follow safety regulations for all equipment and report unsafe conditions.
  11. Maintain cleanliness and organization in all engineering/maintenance storage areas.
  12. Maintain the indoor pool and spa.
  13. Ensure security of assigned keys.
  14. Perform general upkeep of the grounds, including signage, trash, and parking lot.
  15. Develop and suggest systems and procedures for assigned operations.
  16. Assist in other hotel areas as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Maintain active relevant licenses.

  • Understanding of safety management and local regulations.

  • Operate computers and software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Physical Demands

  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, weather, and temperature variations.
  • Extensive mobility required, up to 8 hours at a stretch.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift and maneuver moderate to heavy weights, and operate equipment and vehicles.
  • Transport up to 50 pounds regularly and maneuver carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds frequently.

Qualifications and Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical training from an accredited institution is preferred. Varying work schedules may be required based on hotel needs. Attendance at training sessions is mandatory. All employees must comply with hotel rules and regulations for safety and operations. Violations may result in disciplinary actions, including termination.
