Job summary

Kana Hotel Group is seeking a seasoned Building Engineer to supervise and enhance our hotel maintenance operations. You will lead a skilled team, manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, and ensure timely project completion and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining records, coordinating with management, and participating in budget forecasting. A strong background in facilities trade and energy management is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Requires vocational or apprenticeship in technical/mechanical/facilities
• 5+ years as Building Engineer or equivalent facilities trade
• 2+ years supervisory maintenance experience or combination with education
• Technical certifications preferred
• Expert knowledge of hand tools, power tools, plumbing, electrical, AC, HVAC
• If licenses required, obtain within six months

Responsibilities

• Supervise, develop and maintain ongoing maintenance operation for hotel, including mechanical systems and equipment
• Estimate labor hours and ensure projects meet specifications and schedules
• Coordinate activities with management and other supervisors
• Maintain records for HVAC, MEP, electrical and plumbing systems
• Train maintenance staff on equipment function, operation and safety
• Inspect equipment and maintain up-to-date records
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental laws
• Respond promptly to guest service requests per brand standards
• Manage inventory control and ordering
• Collaborate on long-term maintenance budgets and planning
• Handle insurance claims on HVAC and central plant equipment
• Monitor energy use and maintain energy management programs
• Oversee construction to maintain building integrity
• Maintain OSHA logs and safety reports for engineering personnel
