Job summary

Hyatt Regency Newport Beach West is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to ensure continuous operations and maintenance of all equipment while supporting hotel goals of guest satisfaction and cost control.

The role includes supervising the Preventative Maintenance program, training engineering staff, and ensuring safety standards across the property. The ideal candidate has a HS diploma, 3+ years in a related field, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel, apartment building or related field.
• Supervisory experience helpful.
• Current certification from federal, state or local authorities for trade requirements (e.g. HVAC, pool operation, electrical).
• Knowledge to operate and repair boilers and chillers as required by regulations.
• Must have valid driver's license for the applicable state.
• Must convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well under pressure and maintain composure.
• Must be effective at listening, resolving concerns from guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly manner.
• Maintain regular attendance per hotel standards and scheduling needs.
• Ensure proper uniform and grooming in line with brand standards.
• Comply with hotel standards to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Train and supervise hourly Engineering staff and coordinate scheduling.
• Review staff worked hours for payroll and submit on time.
• Focus Engineering on guest service scores.
• Conduct Engineering interviews and hiring procedures.
• Attend daily/weekly staff meetings.
• Respond to emergencies using MSDS information and keep sheets up to date.
• Inspect fire safety systems to maintain safety standards.
• Manage energy expenses and pursue energy conservation.
• Implement and administer the Preventative Maintenance program per Hyatt standards.
• Evaluate and spot-check work of staff, contractors, and outside labor.
• Handle guestroom maintenance requests promptly.
• Maintain manuals and warranty docs for equipment.
• Follow up on alarms and report findings to management.
• Ensure pool and spa comply with health codes.
• Use proper phone etiquette with staff.
• Chair Safety Committee and coordinate fire drills and safety training.
• Establish and maintain key control system.
• Daily property tours for debris, lighting, and irrigation checks.
• Perform other duties as requested by General Manager.
