Job summary

Commonwealth Lodging Management LLC is seeking a Maintenance Assistant for Marriott Short Pump in Glen Allen, VA. This role supports hotel facilities maintenance, equipment use, and safe operation of building systems.

You will assist electricians, carpenters, plumbers and painters, perform routine inspections, follow OSHA rules, and help coordinate preventive maintenance with the Supervisor and Housekeeping. Strong English, basic computer skills, and 1–2 years in maintenance are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of maintenance assistant experience preferred
• Good English communication skills, written and verbal
• Knowledge of general building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics
• Minimum 2 years experience as electrician or in another trade (plumbing, HVAC) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Be in proper uniform with nametag and maintain guest relations
• Assist electricians, carpenters, plumbers and painters in maintenance tasks
• Maintain knowledge of hotel features, hours, rates, packages and promotions
• Follow safety rules and OSHA regulations; handle chemicals properly
• Ensure tool care, storage and proper use; review work orders and prioritise tasks
• Assist in preventive maintenance scheduling in collaboration with supervisors
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas; support emergency response as needed
