Job summary

Hampton Inn & Suites Austin University Capitol is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Part-Time) to provide technical and maintenance services across the hotel. You will help keep all equipment and building systems in excellent condition and ensure guest comfort.

The role involves performing routine preventive maintenance, assisting with repairs, and managing work orders. You will support safety and high standards of service in a busy hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in hotel settings preferred.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Strong attention to safety and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Maintain regular attendance standards, as required by scheduling.
• Have knowledge and understanding of all department policies and procedures.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and systems operate efficiently.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders (replacing tiles, bulbs, etc.).
• Check electrical systems and perform minor repairs.
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools.
• Service the hotel's pool, adjust chemicals, and maintain logs.
• Maintain building exterior, curb appeal, and landscaping.
• Refurbish furniture in guest rooms; sand/paint as needed.
• Respond courteously to guest questions and requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Operate heavy machinery as required.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and reference manuals as needed.
• Assemble and install wiring, plumbing, and machinery components.
• Process maintenance work orders promptly to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Communicate with other departments about guest room conditions.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and storage rooms.
• Attend training/meetings as required by management.
