Job summary

Cottage Inn by the Sea in Pismo Beach is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer I to help keep the oceanfront hotel running smoothly and safely for guests and staff. This hands-on role includes routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and responding to maintenance requests across guest rooms and public spaces.

You will work alongside the Engineering team to ensure high-quality workmanship and a safe environment.

Qualifications

Experience in maintenance, facilities, or related field.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine next steps.
Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
Troubleshoot basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and building issues.
Complete preventative maintenance to keep equipment and systems operating.
Inspect areas for maintenance needs and communicate required actions.
Maintain a clean, safe, organized engineering workspace.
Operate and care for maintenance tools and equipment.
Support pool, mechanical, laundry, and other hotel equipment maintenance.
Follow safety procedures and standards.
Document completed work and communicate needs to Engineering team.
Collaborate with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to support guest experience.
Assist with special projects and property improvements.
