Job summary

Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach seeks a hands-on General Maintenance Engineer I to keep guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces in excellent condition. You’ll respond quickly to maintenance requests, perform routine repairs, and help ensure all systems operate safely and efficiently for a seamless guest experience.

You’ll troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry issues, complete preventative maintenance, and collaborate with housekeeping, front desk, and other teams.

Qualifications

Previous maintenance, engineering, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate next steps.
Comfortable using common hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests.
Troubleshoot and address basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building issues.
Complete preventative maintenance to help keep equipment and hotel systems operating properly.
Inspect rooms and common areas for maintenance needs and report issues requiring additional attention.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized engineering workspace and property.
Document completed work and communicate outstanding maintenance needs to the Engineering team.
Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to support the overall guest experience.

About The Property

THE ROLE

Role

As a General Maintenance Engineer I, you’ll help keep the hotel running smoothly, safely, and comfortably for our guests and team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll respond to maintenance needs, perform preventative upkeep, and troubleshoot issues throughout the property. You’ll:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests
Troubleshoot and address basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building issues
Complete preventative maintenance to help keep equipment and hotel systems operating properly
Inspect rooms and common areas for maintenance needs and report issues requiring additional attention
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized engineering workspace and property
Operate and care for maintenance tools and equipment properly
Support pool, mechanical, laundry, and other hotel equipment maintenance as needed
Follow safety procedures and applicable building, fire, and health standards
Document completed work and communicate outstanding maintenance needs to the Engineering team
Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to support the overall guest experience
Assist with special projects, property improvements, and other maintenance needs as assigned

The hotel is safe, functional, and well maintained, with maintenance issues addressed before they become bigger problems. Guest and team member requests are handled promptly and professionally, preventative maintenance stays on track, and you become a dependable member of the Engineering team who takes pride in keeping the property in great shape.

What We’re Looking For

Previous maintenance, engineering, facilities, construction, or related experience preferred
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance
Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate next steps
Comfortable using common hand and power tools
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Ability to prioritize multiple requests and respond appropriately to urgent needs
Dependable, hands-on, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed
Strong communication and a professional, guest-focused approach
Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member
Commitment to safety and proper handling of tools, equipment, and maintenance materials
Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb stairs/ladders, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments
Ability to lift and carry maintenance materials and equipment as required
