Job summary

Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, MA seeks a General Maintenance Engineer to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and plumbing duties across the property, including guest rooms and public areas. You will work with the Engineering team to keep the building in excellent condition while ensuring safety and minimal guest disruption.

Qualifications

• Trade school or college coursework in related field is helpful.
• At least one year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including dress code and name tag.
• Comply with hotel safety standards to ensure efficient operations.
• Make repairs to air conditioners – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Take chiller readings and water samples.
• Test water and record data.
• Replace TVs and provide assistance as needed.
• Replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs.
• Perform furniture repairs.
• Respond to room/hotel public area maintenance calls.
• Replace pumps.
• Make wall covering repairs.
• Perform plumbing repairs – unclog drains, replace parts, etc.
• Replace lavatories and toilets.
• Paint designated areas.
• Repair and finish sheetrock.
• Repair kitchen equipment.
• Other duties as required.
