Job summary

The Gateway Hotel & Conference Center in Ames, IA is seeking a professional line cook to prepare menu items for the Iowa Stater Restaurant to the exacting standards set forth by the Executive Chef. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Sous and/or Sous Chef to help fulfill our mission to enthusiastically deliver first class hospitality that exceeds guest expectations.

Responsibilities include setting up and stocking stations, preparing ingredients, following recipes,

Qualifications

Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
Must be able to execute assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner (sense of urgency).
Knowledge of sanitation techniques and kitchen equipment.
Experience in a hotel, restaurant, or similar venue is preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies and equipment.
Prepare food for service including cutting vegetables, fabricating meat and fish items, soups and sauces.
Cook menu items according to recipes and kitchen direction.
Maintain an organized, clean and sanitary work area (mise en place).
Label, date and rotate products (FIFO) according to regulations.
Follow cooling temperature logs, waste logs, and product need lists.
