Job summary

The Gateway Hotel & Conference Center in Ames, IA is seeking a professional line cook to prepare menu items for the Iowa Stater Restaurant to the exacting standards set by the Executive Chef. The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Sous and/or Sous Chef to help fulfill our mission to enthusiastically deliver first class hospitality that exceeds guest expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a hotel, restaurant, or similar venue is preferred.
• Ability to work weekends and flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Set up and stock stations with supplies and equipment.
• Prepare food for service including cutting vegetables and fabricating proteins.
• Cook menu items following recipes and kitchen direction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area (mise en place).
• Label, date, and rotate products (FIFO) per IA inspections.
• Follow cooling, waste, and product need logs as required.
• Keep ticket times within targets and minimize expediting delays.
• Demonstrate Gateway Values in daily work.
• Other duties as assigned by kitchen leadership.
