Job summary

Courtyard Huntsville - University Drive is seeking a Houseperson to keep lobby and public spaces pristine and support the housekeeping team. You will move efficiently through corridors, assist with linens and supplies, and promptly fulfill guest requests to create a welcoming environment.

The role emphasizes physical stamina, flexible scheduling, and teamwork with the Room Attendants. Marriott experien ce is considered a plus, and training will be provided for the right attitude and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Elevate public spaces by keeping lobbies, corridors, restrooms, and fitness areas immaculate and guest-ready.
• Support Room Attendants with heavy lifting, linen handling, and supply transport.
• Respond promptly to guest/front desk requests, delivering amenities to rooms as needed.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and refresh of meeting rooms and event spaces.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisor or engineering; document accordingly.

Job Overview

As a Houseperson at Courtyard by Marriott, you are the vital backbone of our housekeeping operation. In this role, you will maintain the spotless, welcoming appearance of our lobby, corridors, and public spaces while directly supporting our Room Attendants behind the scenes. If you have a watchful eye for detail, enjoy being in motion, and love delivering exceptional service to guests, we want you on our team!

What You Will Do (Essential Responsibilities)

• Elevate Our Public Spaces: Make regular rounds to ensure guest corridors, elevators, lobbies, public restrooms, and fitness areas are immaculate, sanitized, and guest-ready.


• Support the Room Attendants: Assist with heavy lifting, strip linen from checkout rooms, empty trash carts, and transport clean laundry and supplies to floor storage rooms.


• Deliver Guest "Wow" Moments: Promptly and graciously respond to guest or front desk requests by delivering amenities like extra pillows, rollaway beds, or cribs directly to rooms.


• Meeting Space Management: Help clean, set up, break down, and refresh our meeting rooms and event spaces.


• Safety & Maintenance Reporting: Actively spot and report any maintenance needs, property damage, or safety hazards to the supervisor or engineering department. Enter reports into system as instructed.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Fundamentals)

• Hospitality Mindset: A warm, friendly personality with a drive to anticipate guest needs and work collaboratively with a diverse team.


• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and stay on your feet for an entire shift, and comfortably lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted (such as heavy laundry carts).


• Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays based on hotel occupancy.


• Experience: Prior hotel housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience is highly valued but not required—we will train the right attitude!


• Marriott experience a plus!
