Job summary

Fort Pontchartrain A Wyndham Hotel is seeking a detail-oriented Hotel Houseperson to maintain cleanliness of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. You will ensure a pleasant guest experience by managing linen and cleaning tasks and supporting a dynamic hotel team.

Responsibilities include cleaning rooms and common areas, following chemical safety guidelines, restocking supplies, and assisting guests with requests. High school diploma required; weekends and holidays necessary.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in housekeeping or janitorial work is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean rooms and common areas including hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other areas.
• Follow safety data sheet guidelines when using chemicals.
• Move and arrange furniture, dust and polish furniture, metalwork, and equipment.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors; vacuum rugs, carpets, and upholstery.
• Collect soiled linens and store clean linens in linen closet.
• Clean bathrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
• Restock rooms with towels and supplies; prepare cleaning cart for shift.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.
• Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash.
• Greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
• Handle luggage assistance requests in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.
• Handle Lost and Found items according to hotel standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview: To assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of hotel premises, ensuring a pleasant and positive guest experience by managing linen and cleaning tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Clean rooms as needed, including hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Abide by the regulations set forth by the material safety data sheets when using chemicals.
• Move and arrange furniture, dust, and polish furniture, metalwork, and equipment.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, and powered machinery. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies with a vacuum cleaner.
• Collect soiled linens for laundering and store clean linens in the linen closet.
• Clean bathrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
• Restock rooms with necessary supplies (towels, etc.) and prepare the cleaning cart with appropriate supplies for the shift.
• Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, door panels, and sills.
• Empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays; transport trash to disposal areas.
• Greet guests in a friendly and warm manner.
• 11. Handle all requests for luggage assistance in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner.
• 12. Handle items for "Lost and Found" according to hotel standards.
• 13. Perform other duties as assigned.
