Job summary

Western States Lodging & Management’s Residence Inn Kapolei is seeking a dependable Houseman to help keep guest spaces clean, welcoming, and well-maintained. You’ll support the housekeeping team and ensure public areas meet brand standards.

Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, be willing to work weekends/holidays, and perform duties with attention to detail and professionalism in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• No previous experience required; cleaning/janitorial or hotel experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow standards is essential.
• Ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks efficiently.
• Positive, professional communication with guests, coworkers and supervisors.
• Strong teamwork and willingness to assist other departments as needed.
• Guest-focused attitude and commitment to excellent customer service.
• Capable of working independently while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Availability to work some weekends and holidays as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the hotel lobby, common areas, office nooks, hallways, and guest spaces.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and clean floors per hotel standards.
• Clean and sanitize elevators and public restrooms throughout shifts.
• Shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture in public areas as needed.
• Stock and replenish towels and housekeeping supplies.
• Assist with linen and towel delivery and other housekeeping duties.
• Coordinate and oversee Facility Attendant tasks as assigned.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns to the team.

What You’ll Do

• Clean and maintain the hotel lobby, common areas, office nooks, hallways, and other guest-accessible spaces.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, and clean floors according to hotel standards.
• Clean and sanitize elevators multiple times throughout the day.
• Clean public restrooms and maintain them regularly throughout each shift.
• Shampoo carpets and upholstered furniture in public areas as needed.
• Stock and replenish pool towels throughout the day.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas.
• Restock housekeeping supplies, linens, towels, toiletries, and cleaning products as needed.
• Assist housekeeping team members with linen and towel delivery, stripping rooms, and other housekeeping duties.
• Help coordinate and oversee Facility Attendant tasks as assigned.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns to the appropriate team.

What Makes You Successful

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No previous experience required; housekeeping, janitorial, hotel, or similar experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards and instructions.
• Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Physical Requirements

This is an active position that requires frequent walking and standing throughout the shift. Team members must be able to regularly bend, stoop, reach, sit, and stand and use proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. The position may require occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
