OVERVIEW

The General Manager role will drive the training, culture, overall environment, guest satisfaction targets, brand standard execution and financial profitability of the hotel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Proactively lead the operations of rooms, food & beverage, sales, and engineering departments to maximize financial performance and guest satisfaction while upholding brand standards, reinforcing culture, and developing team members and future leadership.
  2. Lead the executive committee to communicate with each member, coordinating the operations of each member’s individual departments and projects assigned.
  3. Assure achievement of annual budget in revenues, costs, and profits through expenditure controls.
  4. Conduct regular staff and employee meetings.
  5. Implement, maintain, and promote all company culture policies and procedures.
  6. Represent the hotel in appropriate hotel, tourism, and business associations, participating in community affairs to maintain a positive image for the hotel.
  7. Respond to guest requests and complaints timely, efficiently, appropriately, and in a professional manner.
  8. Responsible for hotel Brand satisfaction scores and all scores derived from guest feedback.
  9. Oversee the service quality, operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, standards compliance, and financial performance.
  10. Protect the assets of the hotel by enforcing and maintaining a preventative maintenance program.
  11. Produce required weekly/monthly reports and inventories while meeting required deadlines for submittal.
  12. Responsible for all hotel inventories and par levels, reconciliation of all purchases, and approval/submittal of invoices.
  13. Participate in the sales/revenue management efforts and processes at the hotel by interaction with Sales/Revenue Managers.
  14. Coordinate capital improvement projects to maintain, upgrade quality standards, protect property image, and to protect the asset from neglect, damage, or deterioration.
  15. Assist in creating and achieving realistic and attainable operational goals and profitability objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or Management or similar degree (preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. 5-7 years of experience in a full service hotel (required) 10+ years’ experience (preferred).
  3. Knowledge of sales process, client base, and general market knowledge.
  4. Knowledge of revenue management and successfully forecast business on both short-term and long-term basis.
  5. Basic to advanced knowledge of budget adherence and monthly financial analysis.

SKILLS & INTANGIBLES

  1. Proficiently speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language required; ability to speak other languages (desired).
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Possess proficient computer skills including proficient knowledge of MS Office products, and knowledge of brand operating systems.
  4. Able to work in fast-paced environment.
  5. Able to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks.
  6. Lead by example for all team members.
  7. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and desire to participate as part of a team.
  8. Able to assess/evaluate team member performance in a fair and consistent manner.
  9. Able to study, analyze and interpret complex activities and/or information to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
  10. Develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts to ensure a visible presence in the community.

OTHER

General Manager will be required to work varying schedules based on needs of the hotel. This includes attendance at all scheduled brand and job specific training sessions and meetings. May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
