B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking an Engineer II for full-time, hourly work to maintain mechanical/electrical systems, life-safety equipment, and hotel grounds. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, pool maintenance, guest interaction, and coordinating with departments to uphold standards.

The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, safety compliance (OSHA), and ongoing professional development within a hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade/vocational certificate preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years in hotel/resort or commercial building maintenance/engineering.
• Technical skills: painting, drywall repair, plaster, tile repair; read schematics/blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical or electrical systems (HVAC, plumbing, laundry, kitchen, etc.).
• Service pool operations; adjust chemicals and clean filters; maintain logs.
• Respond courteously to guest questions and requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain exterior grounds and curb appeal (lawn, pools, painting, gardening).
• Perform preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis.
• Coordinate with hotel department heads to address maintenance needs and ensure timely response to requests.
• Maintain hotel standards and follow-up on inspection deficiencies.
• Coordinate service contracts and vendor coordination.
• Interview, train, and evaluate staff as needed; support discipline when required.
