Job summary

Starwood Hotels in Seattle is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance of the hotel and F&B facilities, directing a team of engineers in a 24-hour operation. The role focuses on energy conservation, regulatory compliance, and delivering reliable, safe service to guests.

The ideal candidate has at least ten years in senior engineering with five years in management, a related degree, OSHA knowledge, and LEED-GA certification or the plan to obtain it within one year.

Qualifications

• Ten years in a senior engineering role with at least five years in a managerial position.
• Bachelor’s degree or technical school degree preferred.
• Hospitality experience strongly preferred.
• LEED-GA certification or obtain within the first year.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements related to hotel operations and chemical storage.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Willing to support a 24-hour operation.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing repair and maintenance of the entire hotel and F&B facilities including the physical structure and all mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Maintains effective Energy Management and looks for energy-efficient solutions.
• Lead, mentor and coordinate engineering staff to maintain standards efficiently.
• Oversee departmental budget, forecasting, capital planning and proposals.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and building codes.
• Lead the hotels Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation Teams and conduct regular meetings.
