Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the maintenance team across the hotel and F&B facilities, ensuring safe, reliable operations and adherence to energy conservation programs.

You will direct engineering staff, manage budgets and capital plans, and ensure compliance with all codes and regulations while driving energy efficiency initiatives in a 24-hour hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Ten years in a senior engineering role, with at least five years in a managerial capacity.
• Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred.
• LEED or similar sustainability familiarity is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ongoing maintenance of the hotel and F&B facilities, including the building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Maintain effective Energy Management and pursue energy-efficient projects.
• Lead, mentor and coordinate engineering staff to meet department standards and prompt execution.
• Oversee departmental budget, forecasting, capital planning and proposals for ongoing maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and building codes.
• Lead the hotel's Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation Teams.

Ongoing repair and maintenance of the entire hotel and F&B facilities including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.

Maintains effective Energy Management. Continuously looks for energy efficient solutions and Innovative projects

Regularly lead, mentor and coordinate activities of the engineering staff engaged in maintaining and repairing the physical structure of the building promptly and efficiently to the required standard.

Conduct regular departmental meetings, performance evaluations and ensure ongoing development of Engineering team to ensure effective communication and standards are adhered to in the department

Oversee departmental budget under the direction of the Hotel General Manager, including forecasting, budgeting, capital planning and proposals to ensure ongoing maintenance of the hotel

Ensure all local, state and federal law compliance and building codes are adhered to

Lead the hotels Fire Safety & Emergency Evacuation Teams.

$85,000 - $90,000 annualized

About You

Min. of ten (10) years’ experience in a senior Engineering role, with a min. 5 years Managerial experience

Bachelors Degree or related technical school degree preferred.

Prior Hospitality Experience Strongly Preferred

Knowledge of OSHA requirements as they relate to the hotel and chemical storage as per OSHA

Possess a LEED-GA certification or obtain withing the 1st year of employment.

Excels at communication, both verbal and written.

Is flexible and willing to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
