Job summary

Hilton Richmond Downtown is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the hotel’s engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations in Richmond, VA. The role oversees all building systems, PM programs, life-safety standards, capital planning, and a team of engineers and technicians.

The ideal candidate has 5–7+ years in hotel or commercial facility maintenance, strong leadership, and extensive knowledge of building systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or related fields preferred.
• Certifications such as EPA, CPO, HVAC license, or similar credentials strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all engineering and maintenance operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable building performance.
• Lead, train, coach, and evaluate engineering staff including supervisors and maintenance technicians.
• Manage the preventive maintenance program for all building systems and equipment.
• Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety issues, and opportunities for improvements.
• Coordinate major repairs, capital projects, and contracted maintenance work.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire/life safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain inventory and document work orders, PM schedules, and compliance records.
• Assist with engineering budget development and capital planning.
• Respond to guestroom and public area maintenance calls and collaborate with other departments.
