Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Honolulu is seeking an Engineer, Level 2 to ensure the property is maintained in top condition with minimal disruption to guests and staff. You will perform repairs across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems, read blueprints, and assist in supervising other engineering staff.

This full-time role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years in a hotel or related field; trade school or college coursework is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required or one year of hotel-related experience.
• Trade school and/or College coursework in related field preferred.
• Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
• Heavy work - occasional lifting over 100 pounds, frequent lifting over 50 pounds, constant lifting up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs to hotel air conditioning system: change filters, clean coils, replace motors.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment (boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
• Take required readings on equipment and test cooling tower readings.
• Replace and program televisions; replace light switches, receptacles, bulbs, fixtures.
• Perform plumbing repairs (clogs, copper pipe, washers, handles).
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams; trace and repair water lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment; maintain maintenance records.
• Complete tasks in compliance with local, state and Federal codes; manage pool/spa maintenance.
• Paint designated areas; repair and finish sheet rock; repair wall coverings.
• Repair and program hotel electronic lock systems; supervise other engineering staff.
