Job summary

The Holiday Inn New Orleans Airport North is seeking a Chief Engineer to maintain the hotel facility, including electrical, HVAC, boilers, and related equipment, while overseeing project work and preventive maintenance.

The role requires five years’ journey mechanic/engineer experience in a Class A hotel setting, two years as head/assistant chief engineer, EPA refrigerant certification, and relevant licenses. Strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with industry-recognized apprenticeship or advanced training for operating engineers.
• Five years’ experience as a journey mechanic or engineer with a class A hotel company or related industry.
• Two years’ experience as head or assistant chief engineer in the same or similar environment.
• EPA refrigerant certification required by property.
• Electrician license or applicable permits as required by law.
• Must have EPA certification in safe use/handling of refrigerants.

Responsibilities

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Maintain regular attendance in accordance with hotel standards and varying schedules.
• Maintain high standards of appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and nametag.
• Comply with standards and regulations to ensure safe, efficient hotel operations.
• Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor at all times.
• Be attentive, helpful, and courteous to all guests and staff.
• Develop and implement plans to maintain property, equipment, and assets safely.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Supervise engineers and train staff per service standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest comments to identify and correct issues.
• Ensure ADA compliance.
• Assist in vendor contract administration in Engineering.
• Assist budgeting and financial forecasting for department.
