Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn Charleston is seeking a Server to provide prompt and courteous service, ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience and the dining area remains guest-ready.

The role requires standing for long hours, ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and effective communication with guests and associates. One year of food and beverage experience is preferred, with chain outlet experience a plus; associates may need to pass security clearances.

Qualifications

• One year experience in food and beverage position preferred.
• Experience with chain food and retail outlet preferred.
• Knowledge: Age requirements and verify those who order any alcoholic beverages.
• Knowledge: Menu items, preparation methods and beverage choices.
• Knowledge: Standards of operation as required by brand.
• Knowledge: Area shopping, dining, entertainment and travel directions to assist guest inquiries.
• Knowledge: Daily hotel operations check daily events, bulletin boards and are up to date on changes, new procedures and events.
• Knowledge: Entire property, staff, services, hours of operation, type of rooms, locations, rates, discounts.
• Skills: Service minded, friendly professional behavior. Welcoming and personable.
• Skills: Computer literate to thoroughly operate property management system: post charges, compute bills, collect payment and make change.
• Skills: Sell, suggest and serve quality food and beverage items as per standards.
• Abilities: Multi task, remain associate and guest service centric.
• Abilities: Effectively communicate with guests and associates.
• Abilities: Solve guest issues with professionalism and maintain a hospitable attitude.
• Abilities: Market and promote to increase exposure and sales.
• Abilities: Work as a team member in aspects such as: cleaning, side work, food preparation and storage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and consistently maintain dining area and supplies in a guest ready atmosphere.
• Process guest charges and gratuities in accordance to standards, policies and procedures.
• Maintain safety and security practices, have thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Ensure guests are provided with the highest quality product and service.
• Complete daily side work including stocking. May also be responsible for ordering, cost control and maintaining the quality of items served or alerting management to issues in these areas in a timely manner.
• Maintain certification from a brand approved responsible vendor training program.
• Other duties as assigned, that the associate is capable of performing.
