Job description

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated and service-focused hospitality leader to join the team of the Grand Gardner Hotel as Host. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana.

The Grand Gardner Hotel features 58 rooms and suites, a full-service restaurant, a speakeasy, banquet space, and inviting gathering areas. Pay starts at $14.68/hour

As the first point of contact for guests visiting our speakeasy, the Host plays a key role in creating a memorable and welcoming experience from the moment guests arrive. This position manages reservations, welcomes guests, coordinates seating, and helps maintain the distinctive atmosphere that makes our speakeasy a unique destination within the Grand Gardner Hotel.

The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with people, thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, and takes pride in creating exceptional guest experiences. They are organized, attentive to detail, and able to balance warmth and professionalism while managing guest flow. Exceptional organizational skills and professional appearance are required, along with the ability to navigate reservation software and multi-line phone systems. The candidate must have the physical stamina to remain standing for up to 8 hours and the ability to move through the property quickly to escort guests. A warm, welcoming personality and a commitment to the highest standards of boutique service are essential. Prior experience in a host or guest relations role is preferred.
