Canopy by Hilton, a modern boutique hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, is seeking a host/hostess to elevate guest service and restaurant operations at Portico, our vibrant café and restaurant. In this role, you will assist with seating arrangements during breakfast and lunch service and take on barista responsibilities by crafting delightful coffee drinks for our guests. If you have strong time management skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to creating positive guest experiences, along with hosting or barista experience, we would be thrilled to hear from you!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Welcome guests and ascertain their dining needs.
• Seat guests and manage the seating chart.
• Receive incoming calls and provide information in a polite and professional manner.
• Monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow.
• Assist servers with table clearing, cleaning, and setting
• Assist fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary
• Perform opening and closing duties, as needed.
• Completes side work to include polishing/rolling silverware, stocking condiments and glasses, sweeping and cleaning as directed by supervisor. Practices “clean as you go” method, and sanitation standards.
• Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products.
• Follow proper cashiering functions by completing/closing guest checks and submitting information into POS system.
