Better Hospitality Group (BHG) is the operating group behind four of Washington, D.C.’s most cherished neighborhood bar/restaurants: TAKODA in the bustling Shaw neighborhood, Boardwalk Bar & Arcade on the waterfront at The Wharf, the newest TAKODA location in Navy Yard near Nationals Park, and Easy Company at the Wharf. We are currently hiring for Boardwalk Bar & Arcade at the Wharf. BHG is the fastest growing bar/restaurant group in the Greater Washington region.

START DATE: LATE FEBRUARY / EARLY MARCH

Description/Responsibilities

• Greeting guests as they walk into the restaurant and ascertain their dining needs
• Attending to guests upon arrival with reservations and guiding them to their table
• Providing guests with accurate wait time estimates and seating them in the waiting area
• Providing menus and answering initial questions from guests
• Optimizing seating arrangements to ensure an even workload for wait staff
• Answering phones and scheduling reservations for large parties
• Performing opening and closing duties
• Assisting fellow team members and other departments to maintain positive working relationships
• Preparing restaurant tables with attention to sanitation and consistency

Transportation

• Must have reliable transportation
• Boardwalk is located on the northwestern side of the Wharf and accessible by the green metro line (Waterfront and L’Enfant stations)

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong customer service skills to assist guests effectively
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with coworkers
• Preferred but not required: experience with Toast ordering system

Physical Responsibilities

• Constant standing and walking for long periods

Experience

• Preferred but not required: 1 year of restaurant experience

Hours

• Open availability, including weekends and holidays
• Operational hours:
• Sunday - Thursday: 11am-10pm
• Friday - Saturday: 11am-2am
