Job summary

Blueridge Restaurant Group in Silver Spring, MD is seeking warm, polished hosts to create memorable first impressions and ensure every guest feels welcomed. You will greet guests, manage OpenTable reservations, escort guests to tables, and coordinate with servers to smooth the dining room flow.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable learning and using reservation systems such as OpenTable.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, genuine first impression and welcome every guest with professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Manage reservations and waitlists using OpenTable while maximizing seating efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Escort guests to their tables and introduce them to their server for a seamless handoff.
• Maintain awareness of reservation notes, special occasions, VIP guests, accessibility needs, and seating preferences.
• Communicate effectively with managers, servers, and support staff to ensure smooth dining room flow.
• Answer incoming phone calls professionally while assisting guests with reservations and inquiries.
• Maintain a polished entrance and lobby, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere at all times.
• Monitor dining room pacing and table availability to provide an exceptional guest experience.
• Assist with resetting tables and supporting the dining room as needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of menus, beverages, gift cards, and restaurant offerings.
• Complete opening, running, and closing side work (rolling silverware, polishing menus, stocking, cleaning).
• Support teammates and contribute to a positive, hospitality-focused culture.
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested by a manager.
