Ri Rá Portland is seeking a friendly host/hostess to greet guests, manage reservations, guide seating, and assist servers in a busy waterfront pub. You will quote wait times accurately, escort guests to tables, answer calls, and help maintain a welcoming, organized dining room.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume hospitality is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests on arrival with a warm, friendly welcome.
• Manage the Reservation System and floor/seating charts.
• Quote wait times accurately and escort guests to tables.
• Assist Servers and Bartenders as needed to maintain service flow.
• Bus tables, reset to standard, and ensure a clean, organized host stand.
• Answer calls professionally and handle To-Go orders when required.

Rí Rá (roughly translated as "Good Fun") has been a labor of love for Ciaran Sheehan and David Kelly, two childhood friends from Ireland, since they emigrated to the USA in the 1990’s. The duo’s mission was to create a gathering place like those pubs that they knew so well from their hometowns in Ireland. Such a place would have authentic Irish interiors, would be welcoming to all and would act as a “social hub” for the local community; a “Real Irish Local”. Rí Rá on the waterfront in downtown Portland, ME, encompasses a fantastic community oriented 2-storey pub & restaurant with multiple bars and some of the best views in the city. We want people who support our Mission; which (to “Create Experiences That People Love”) and want to have fun in achieving it!

What You Will be Doing

• Greeting guests on arrival with a warm and friendly welcome
• Managing the Reservation System and floor / seating charts
• Accurately quoting wait times and escorts guests to designated table
• Following up with guest requests, either directly or via the assigned Bartender / Server
• Assisting Servers and Bartenders in maintenance and cleaning of service utensils and service equipment as required
• Bussing tables (clearing plates, cups, glassware and condiments etc.)
• Resetting tables to standard
• Answering incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, providing requested information as able
• Accommodating and processing “To Go” orders, merchandize orders and / or door cover as required
• Ensuring that the Host Stand (and all other assigned relevant areas) is maintained in an organized, clean and sanitary manner
• Ensuring that all set-up and break-down tasks are completed to standard
• Interacting with guests
