A Host at Charlie Bird is responsible for acting as a liaison between the guest and the Manager on Duty while creating a welcoming environment for all guests. They serve as the connection between the front door, management, and kitchen. The host must possess strong guest recognition skills and be proficient in using our reservations platform, Resy, adhering to Charlie Bird's standards and guidelines.
Key Relationships
Collaborate closely with FOH Managers and team members to ensure a seamless front door experience for all guests.
Charlie Bird & DHG Policies and Guidelines
- Arrive on time and 'floor-ready' for all scheduled shifts, following dress code standards.
- Accurately clock in and out for shifts and breaks, utilizing time and attendance portals effectively.
- Comply with all Charlie Bird and Delicious Hospitality Group (DHG) policies and guidelines.
Guest Experience
- Understand and consistently execute front door policies with efficiency and grace, maintaining a sense of urgency.
- Manage reservation and prepay requests through CB Info accounts.
- Respond to requests via reservations cell phones for VIP and general inquiries.
Front Door & Table Service
- Anticipate guest needs to foster strong relationships and recognize regulars and VIPs, creating a welcoming environment.
- Initiate beverage service, including dropping water and taking initial orders.
- Assist support staff with clearing and setting tables to facilitate quick turns.
- Optimize reservation management to drive revenue, balancing walk-ins and reservations.
- Maintain constant communication with team members and management to enhance service quality.
- Demonstrate speed and accuracy with Resy platform during service, including managing waitlists and updates.
- Distribute soignée tickets and complete sidework reliably.
- Keep coat check organized and prepare for the next day to support team success.
MENU KNOWLEDGE
- Be proficient in menu details and able to answer questions about hours, restaurant history, and related DHG and sister restaurants.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Experience as a Host in a high-volume restaurant with standards similar to Charlie Bird.
- Experience with Open Table or Resy platforms.
- Familiarity with Google Suite.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with guests and team members.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong understanding of NYC DOH standards.
- Previous restaurant experience preferred.
