Job summary

Public School Restaurant + Bar in Culver City is seeking an energetic Host/Hostess to greet guests, manage the front of house, and ensure a smooth dining experience from arrival to seating. You will be the first impression and help coordinate reservations and wait times.

We value a positive attitude, at least 1 year of restaurant experience, and the ability to work weekends and holidays. Opportunities for growth, flexible scheduling, and employee discounts are available.

Qualifications

• Food Handlers card within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a friendly/energized manner upon entering the restaurant.
• Serve as an ambassador of the restaurant and first point of contact.
• Manage seating and wait times, reservations, and guest flow.
• Communicate wait times to guests and manage expectations.
• Ensure front entrance areas are clean and stocked, including host stand.
• Memorize menu offerings and assist with take-out orders as needed.

Headquartered in Palm Desert, CA, Daily Grill Concepts is a national restaurant company with 5 restaurants in two states. The Company boasts 2 different, yet complimentary brands, spanning the spectrum from Casual Daily Grill to the hip and trendy Public School Gastro Pubs.

We are looking for experienced, energetic, and hospitality focused team members to join our team!

Job Responsibilities:

• Greeting guests in a friendly/energized manner immediately upon their entering the restaurant
• Serve as an ambassador of the restaurant, being the first person the guest interacts with
• Managing the flow of the restaurant by planning where reservations will go, managing wait time and wait list, and assessing server skill levels to properly seat guests.
• Positively and kindly communicating possible wait times to guests and properly managing their expectations when/if there is a wait
• Ensure we are fully prepared for the shift with enough clean menus
• Problem solving and following the “LAST” (listen, apologize, solve, thank) mind set to handle guest concerns
• Maintaining a clean front entrance area including cleaning the host stand, wiping the front doors, and performing restroom checks and stocking
• Memorize food and beverage offerings, and execute take-out orders when needed

Job Requirements:

• Must have an open availability including weekends and holidays
• Minimum of 1 year of restaurant experience
• Positive and Professional Attitude
• Strong multi-tasking ability, with the ability to work well under pressure
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must present a Food Handlers card within 30 days of hire
• Must be able to walk, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, and twist for 4-12 hours/day
• Must be able to push, pull, or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
