Job summary

Hyatt Regency La Jolla is seeking a Director of Human Resources to act as a strategic business partner for the General Manager and Executive Team. The role leads talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee relations, compensation, and benefits, ensuring legal compliance and a positive workplace culture.

You will drive leadership development, succession planning, and colleague training, while partnering with corporate HR to align people initiatives with hotel goals and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• CA HR experience preferred.
• 6+ years of progressive Human Resource experience (typically with Hyatt).
• Prior Experience as a Director of Human Resources is preferred.
• SHRM or PHR certification is preferred.
• Service oriented style with professional presentations skills.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and Executive Leadership Team, aligning people strategies with operational and financial goals.
• Lead all Human Resources functions, including talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee and labor relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, and compliance.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, high-performing workplace culture that supports engagement, retention, and Hyatt’s values.
• Provide coaching to leaders on colleague relations, performance management, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and risk management practices, including leave administration and workers’ compensation.
• Oversee learning and development initiatives, leadership development, succession planning, and training programs.
• Drive colleague engagement through recognition programs, feedback initiatives, and communication strategies.
